Today, the 2003 Indian Chief motorcycles are built upon proud heritage with four models that are bold in appearance with authentic styling details and confident in performance with its robust chassis design and muscular Powerplus™ 100 engine. For 2003, the flagship Indian Chief line comes with the Powerplus™ engine, the largest displacement engine designed and built by an American OEM motorcycle company.
To celebrate the machines that first put America on two wheels, we created the distinctive Springfield edition Chief. The Chief Springfield wears the classic large Indian script logo on rich gold, surrounded by double gold pinstriping. The flowing script logo was introduced in 1910. The complete look, with the surrounding gold pinstriping, was first seen on the 1917 Indian Powerplus model.
A key feature of the Chief line is its unmistakable, full-body profile and sculpted, full-valence fenders. For 2003 the airbox cover is now painted with an inlayed Indian logo. Completing this package is added detail to the instrument bezel for a more sophisticated look. The 2003 Indian Chief Springfield comes with a hand-stitched solo seat, 16-inch chrome wheels and blackwall tires. The Chief Springfield is offered in two monochromatic colors.
Key Refinements for 2003 Include:
- Swept-back handlebar design adds comfort.
- Painted airbox cover with inlayed Indian logo adds to classic styling.
- Restyled engraved bezel design adds to overall fit and finish.
- New colors and graphic combinations add choice.
